April Ross

April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball athletes who earned medals during more than one Olympics. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside April Ross Tokyo in order to claim her third gold medal over the coming days. Ross wants to achieve more than her first Olympic medal. As she turns 39, it could be her final chance to win the Olympic gold. But she's convinced that winning the gold medal is within reach. When she played in the final sport she was clearly the standout. The college bio says that she was an outside-hitting hitter, middle blocker and setter in her volleyball playing career at high school. She was awarded by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the year in 1999 due to her accomplishments. Ross and Klineman may be working on a project at the beginning of 2017, but Ross was already an established volleyball player before they came together. The American has been a major winner in tournaments twice with different partners. One of them has become an icon in the volleyball world. Between 2007 and 2013 she was in a partnership by Jennifer Kessy, who is now her coach. Kessy and Ross were strong on the world circuit, winning a 2009 world title with each other. The 2012 Olympic Games, they won a gold medal. The Misty Maytreanor legendary team along with Kerri Jennings won the gold. It was fate that had them. Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner as May-Treanor stepped down. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. Ross competed for USC Trojans throughout her college years before becoming a professional. Her time at the school was one to remember. She was an All-American and Pac-10 freshman of the year when she was a teen freshman. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans to reach the Final Four. She was devastated by a tragic incident in her sophomore year. However, she was able to make it an All-American once more. In her last two years of participation in the Trojans program, she guided the Trojans to winning a national title every time. For her part, she cemented her place as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the top female volleyball players at colleges across the nation. Ross was an international relations student at USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, never had the privilege of watching her daughter become the beach volleyball's biggest star. Ross suffered the loss of her mom to cancer of the breast in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. However, she keeps her parents close to her his heart.
