April Ross
April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball players who have earned medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside April Ross in Tokyo to win her third gold in the next few days. Ross hopes to win an Olympic debut gold but she is also aiming to earn more. And at the age of 39 this may be her last opportunity to do so. She's certain that the top prizes are within reach. Ross stated via NBC Boston: "If we try our best, and even if we just play well I believe we can be able to win gold." Also, I am going be relying on a little bit of good luck. Ross was born in 1982 and lived in Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started playing athletics at Newport Harbor High School. Ross played in numerous activities while at Newport Harbor High School. As a pre-schooler, she competed in basketball, indoor volleyball as well as running track. She was definitely the best at the sport of indoor volleyball. Based on her biography, she was a middle blocker and an outside volleyball player throughout her time in high school. In recognition of her work she was awarded the 1999 Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. The skills she showed in volleyball also earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in 2000. Ross and Klineman are continuing to play since 2017. However, Ross played a significant role in the world of beach volleyball prior to the pair. Actually Ross has been a winner of several important tournaments throughout her career with two partners. One is a volleyball legend. For six years from 2007-2013 she played alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently played the role of Klineman's coach. Along together with Kessy Ross, she won an Olympic Title in 2009 while competing on the international circuit. In 2012, the duo won silver at London's Olympic Games. They were beaten out for the gold medal by the legendary group comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. In 2016, the duo were awarded bronze medals at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross began her college professional career playing for the Trojans of USC in her high school days. It was a long time before Ross went to the beach, and then became a pro. The time she spent at the school was one to remember. In 2000, as a freshman Her performance was rewarded with the Pac-10 and NCAA the Freshman of the Year award. The Trojans had the chance to reach the Final Four with her help. She suffered a devastating personal loss in her sophomore season, but she still repeated her place as an All-American. Through her last two years as a player, she led the Trojans up to the summit netting consecutive national championships. She had established herself as an all-time legend by winning the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross, a USC international relations student was a volleyball star. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, never had the chance to watch Ross' daughter blossom into the beach volleyball's biggest star. Ross's mother passed away from breast carcinoma in the year 2001. Ross had just become an undergraduate student in the second year at USC. Her mother is still dear. Margie has inspired her throughout her life, as well as on the beaches.
